I recently joined and went into the Airfield system AFSC, ive been researching around on this career field but I get is the technical description......the military always makes their MOS's/AFSC's sound like superheroes.....Ive looked into different forums and ive learned that this AFSC is constantly merging with something else.
1. What classes do they teach in tech. school?
2. What is the tech. school like?...is it like Army AIT?
3. The people who work in this field....do they like the constant change?
4. Do the duties vary between what kind of wing you are operating under?...im currently working for and Engineering and Installation unit
5. Any chances of working in the plane?...just a wish of mine, doesnt necessarily have to come true, im easily satisfied.
...Ive posted this on another thread..i want to gain as much insight as i can before heading to tech school...whenever that will be, the ANG works on a need to know basis, they dont have that many available spots open for the time being, Ill appreciate any input i can get, thanks

Apparently, the right people don't read this forum. I retired in '92, and my AFSC was 302X0, which was, at the time, Weather Equipment Maintenance. I believe your career field includes equipment from mine. When I graduated from Basic Weather Equipment school at Chanute AFB, we were under Air Weather Service, a sub command of MAC. This was a great job until we were taken over by AFCC. We did not participate in base exercises, and as long as we kept the equipment running, all was well. When comm took us over everything changed. Our equipment was mostly vacuum tubes from the '60s, and we were expected to hold the same specs as when it was built. The maintenance vehicle that we had was usually old, but when comm inspectors came down from their perches, we had to have it almost showroom condition. Now I hear that comm-electronc maintenance is reportable to the host base. I'm glad I retired.
