I am looking for those members who have direct history of aircraft nose art in the military and the story behind that art work. WWII, Korea and Vietnam Wars. I would like to publish a book with more than just the photos of the aircraft, but why that aircraft had a specific picture or person painted on it. Preserve a part of your history or your parent’s history. All contributors to be recognized in print once I get it published. Please feel free to contact me, Mark Benkelmann, ETCS, USCG (Retired) at MBENKELMANN@LYCOS.COM

I just sold a Nose Art BooK at my garage sale.
Many took a lot of imagination.
Though it sadly also listed the date and mission some were shot down,

You ought to contact the Commemorative Air Force museum here in Midland, TX. Used to be the Confederate Air Force but they changed it a couple of years back. They have a section in the museum on nose art and an exhibit of about twenty restored sections taken off of various aircraft. They have a restoration lab where they work on them. If you think they could help you, let me know and I'll get a contact number for you.

Good luck

-Hold On, Lady!-

..Chuck Hall of 3438 St. Martin, St. Ann,MO, recently read a book titled, " A Missing Plane " by one Susan Sheehan..On the dust jacket for the book, the publisher, G. P. Putnam's son makes the following claim:
.." There are more missing American planes from WWII on the mountainous island of New Guinea in the South Pacific than anywhere on earth. "
..As Chuck sums up the matter, " Obviously, Susan and her publishers didn't check the figures from the much bigger mountain range of The Hump or the jungles of Burma and India! "
..This looks like pure hype, an unsubstantiated claim made to promote a book..But I cannot find figures on the actual looses in New Guinea..You readers got any ideas?
..The Chuck's words: " The prestige of our CBI Theater is on the Line! "
