HOLY SH**T!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This s just a joke to see what sort of reaction you would get?

If it is not a joke and that thing got knocked off the table a large area of your neighbourhood could get wasted.

Call the cops or the nearest military base and evacuate the area until someone comes to take it away!

Go and join the military [if you live !] and they will teach you all about this stuff!

If you have doubts have it checked out but it looks like the body of a Navy AP round. Is the bottom hollow? The bursting charge would go into a hollow cavity on the base and a fuse would be mounted there. If you have just a fuse well and empty insides you're OK. A windshield and penetrator cone would go on the nose of this and that would make a complete round. Inert shell bodys like this were commonly used for training.

the bottom is flat. so if it is just the round itself, is it just one big peice of metal?

Well, there's no nose fuse, so it would have to be a base fused round. If there is no circular fuse mounted it looks to me that this might be a 'Handling' training round. It started as an actual round but was never milled to take a bursting charge and fuse. The driving band has no marks so it's never been fired. It's probably solid.

Check the bottom of the shell? Remember, all rounds are fired by a firing pin. If there is a rounded hole in the center of the bottom of the shell your okay. But if you do not think that is the case bring it into CC military and they can tell you.
