What Army grp was the 69th Infantry attached to in WWII. The 3rd,the 7th or both?

Neither, it was assigned to the 12th Army Group.

That's odd. My father has patches from the 7th Army,the 3rd Army but not the 12th Army. Was the 272 Infantry part of the 69th? Do you know of any place I could track units my father may have been in. I know he served in N African and in Europe to include the Batle of te Bugle. e never spoke much of the War and now I am trying to put togeter a small display. Thank You in advance

12th Army Group (not 12th Army). If he was in 69th Infantry Division, he wore that Divison's patch.

My suggestion is that you conduct an Internet search and/or visit your local library for sources about your father's Division in World War II. Divisions were transfered among Corps & Armies depending upon the given situation. (For example, 1st Infantry Divison served in 1st, 3rd & 7th Armies during World War II.) Good luck!
