Hello,
I find this an interesting request. I am the archivist for the 345th Fighter Squadron. I do not have a Marius Bataille listed in my roster, but this is not conclusive. I will ask other enlisted men in the squadron if they know of a Marius Bataille. I am curious if you are certain that he was with the 345th F.S. and if so, how do you know this. And secondly, this is the more strange part. There was a pilot named Marius Bugnand with the 345th. His nickname was "Bugs". I very recently came in contact with his nephew who told me that he had photos with him also with images of bugs bunny. I am just guessing, but Marius does not seem to be all that common of a name and then the last name starting with the same letter, and then the bugs bunny, and the same fighter squadron. That is a lot of similarities. If your dad was indeed with the 345th F.S I would love to hear about him, and be in contact with you. I have created a blog for the squadron and the 350th Fighter Group. You may be able to find a photo of your dad on my blog. I look forward to hearing from you and unraveling this mystery. If you could send me a photo of his jacket, that would be great.
