Hi,
I submitted a SCRA to American Express back on Feb. 14, 2008. I have repeatedly called them to check on the status of it and each time the person said they have put out the information to the department that deals with SCRA requests and each time nothing happens. My questions are:
1) Should/can I contact my legal officer if the problem persists?
2) Has anyone else experienced problems attempting to get companies to comply with the SCRA?

What are you trying to get them to do? Are you trying to get your interest rate down on a cc that was opened PRIOR to joining the military? (If not prior, then SCRA doesn't apply.)

If that is so, I would give them one more chance. I recommend sending a letter certified mail, return receipt requested so you KNOW they received it, and you know WHEN they received it. State that you have tried several times to resolve this and if it is not done within 30 days of receipt of the letter (dated by the return receipt) you will contact an attorney (your legal officer). Then contact your attorney on day 31 if you have not heard from them.

Hope that helps.

PS - I would also cut up the cc and pay it off as quickly as possible and close the account. But that's just personal opinion as I don't believe in using credit cards.

The use of credit cards is safer than carrying cash and the use of them helps build your credit score, if used responsibly.
