I'm looking to enlist in the Air Force as a SERE Specialist. I've got everything ready to go, but I'm hesitant because of credit problems.
I'm 22 years old and I've had some bills go to collections. All but one has been paid off (all of these bills totaled are less than $2,000 total, the one I haven't paid is $415). The other problem in my history is from when I was 15, maybe 16, a friend stole a car and I went with him, he was pulled over in Virginia. We were put into a juvie hall basically for two days before going to a court. The case was dismissed entirely, the judge actually said "Boys will be boys." I have nothing on my record from it, no charges were pressed... my cop friend ran my name so I would see my traffic violations and nothing came up in regards to the Virginia thing. Am I in a world of trouble for my clearance? I've seen so much conflicting information, people with three GTAs getting their clearance and then people who got fired from a job do not get their clearance. Thank you all for any help you can provide, it's really, greatly appreciated. |

I cannot answer your question about a security clearance, but I can tell you that your "cop" friend could get into trouble for running your name through NCIC/SCIC, for non-official Police business, since it was not an official investigation. |
