Can VA Disability Pay be Garnished for debts, also how does VA Disability figure in on Bankruptcy. Is it counted as income or what. I didn't see this asked any where else on this forum. Sgt D

i realy dont think they can take your V/A money, i am 100% vet, my wife left me when i got sick,thinking she be taking care of when she left me with bills,,the V/A pull out her name right out of the V/A computer,she wanted to come home after a 11yr because she had no INS,,and she got sick NO way i was going to pay for her INS, and she found out the V/A wasent going to pay for her bills,

V.A. compensation assignability. No one but the federal government can getinto your money. Use your search engine & put in u.s. code 38-nonassignability, section5301. Also one's social security disability is non assignable, except again by the Feds. per u.s. code-title 42, Ch. 7,subchapter II,section 407.

Can DFAS take v.a or retirment money from you for a debt owed to them?
