Do you ever offer excess rounds?

The 5.56mm is a cheap, flat shooting, round. That's about all that is good about it. It is NOT a penetrator, nor is it a man-stopper. It has resulted in more American casualties than anything else in the inventory. There is a good reason why it is not allow as a hunting round - it won't drop the game.

NATO should abandon this round in favor of the 7.62 NATO round.

you are right Chief, you can carry more .223 than 7.62Nato and you can carry more 7.62(308win) than 30-06 (remember the garand). but for one shot kills, we needed our M-14 not M-16s
have a nice day

There sure are a lot of dead bad guys with 5.56 mm holes in them that would disagree...

"It has resulted in more American casualties than anything else in the inventory."

Cite your sources for this statement.

"There is a good reason why it is not allow as a hunting round - it won't drop the game."

Actually, the 5.56, or .223 round is allowed for various small game throughout the U.S., and, at least in Texas, can be used on large game (deer), as well as the .222 Cartridge.

"but for one shot kills,"

Ah, the elusive and mythical "one shot kill". For the regular line Infantry, it does not exist as a regular factor. Roll Eyes
