You and I will have to agree to disagree on whether or not tampering constitutes cheating. I've already explained why I think Tampering does not constitute cheating. Every team involved with tampering should be punished, but I don't cosnider it cheating. Even when the Patriots tampered with the jets to get Bill Belicheat, it's still not cheating to me.

This is the wording of the rule stated in the memo that was circulated prior to the 07 season. Tell me if you think there's any ambiguity.

""Videotaping of any type, including but not limited to taping of an opponent's offensive or defensive signals, is prohibited on the sidelines, in the coaches' booth, in the locker room, or at any other locations accessible to club staff members during the game."

Clear as day, that's why nobody believes Belicheat when he says he "misinterpreted the rule". If the Jets were in violation, then they, like the Patriots, should be punished.

Two memorable sports days for me....

Metal, you can defining cheating any way you want but I believe that you are defining it by which team is getting caught with their hands in the cookie jar. To me, I don’t care. The rules are the rules and if you violate them intentionally, you cheated. And I don’t care which team is cheating! Cheating is cheating.

Notice the first words of your quote, “Videotaping of any type…” That’s EXACTLY what the Jets did. They videotaped. They cheated. They were not punished. But I am fine with that because two wrongs do not make a right.

I did not make excuses when the Patriots cheated. I stood against it immediately. But now that other teams have been caught violating the rules (cheating) and they are not being punished, I am obligated to show the hypocrisy of the situation. I am not upset with the situation. I am not upset in this discussion. I am just showing the hypocrisy of the implementation of the rules. I am glad that Patriots got punished (even though I believe it was excessive). And I find it ‘funny’ that the Jets got away with cheating and that the 49ers are getting away with cheating. And the only ones getting bad media are the Patriots.

Eddy, whatever. The Dolphins are a great team that only played a couple games against teams with winning records. But the were undefeated and no one can take that from them.

Yes, I saw it. I'm not really a big South Park fan, but I like the way they spoofed that Edward James Olmos film from the 80's. I wasn't going to say anything though. At this point i've spent too much time and energy on the Patriots and i've just made a conscious decision to stay away from the topic if possible. Dave, stop taking sports so darn seriously. It’s only sports. So the Patriots screwed up and got caught. They got punished. Let’s go on. I hate the fact that they got caught, but that does not change the fact that they did it. And as for the NFL not treating all cheaters the same, no one should find that surprising!

Also, I am not hot when I discuss the various hypocrisies of today’s world. I only point them out then watch the cockroaches scatter when the light comes on. It’s fun to watch but I am not trying to hurt anyone!

So, my advise to you is to watch more South Park. It puts life into manageable and laughable situations even I can understand!

I wasn't the only one getting heated this last season. Although I have to say i'm really down on the NFL lately. With all the pussified rule changes over the recent years the pro game is a shell of what it once was. Outside of the Steelers and a couple other "key matchups" I doubt i'll even watch much NFL football next season. I've become far more passionate about the college game. Hell, I spent more than a few Sundays last season watching repeat local high school telecasts on CSS instead of NFL games.

Dave, never take sports seriously. There's always next year! Heck, I remember when the Patriots went 2-12 and I still liked them. right now they are good. Sooner or later they will fall to the basement again. And I'll still like them! But, believe it or not, I like the Steelers, too.
