Did any one catch the ducks/ bronco game and the fun afterwards, no place in sports for that kind of display, the cops should have arrested him, and off the team...

Does begging and pleading count as foreplay?

Blount has been suspended for the year and since he's a senior, he's done.

I'm not trying to justify his actions, because he was wrong he is being punished; but I wonder what the BSU player said before he laughed in Blount's face. I don't think he said anything congratulatory based on the way the coached tried to pull him away before he got hit.

Hopefully, BSU will take some action there.

BSU doesn't need to take any action there at all. After BSU beat Oregon in Eugene last year, Blount said that the Ducks will get retribution this year and will hand BSU "their a55".

I can imagine that this kid just used Blounts words against him after the game. I can imagine that he said something like "Hey, you really handed our a55 to us."

The BSU player taunted Blount. There is no doubt about that. There was no need for that player to taunt anyone. He should also pay a smaller cost as is evident by the coach pulling him away.

Blount was foolish and childish. He will pay the price. And the instigator will walk away free? Does not seem fair to me.

That's right, you can only imagine...unless you've seen it posted somewhere I haven't, there has been no discussion of what was said. Like I said, I'm not defending Blount's actions. He deserved what he got and ended his football career, but the BSU player should sit a couple of games.

There has been no discussion of what was said because it wasn't a big deal. I was speculating because I would have probably done the same thing. Blount shot himself in the foot when he opened his mouth after last years loss.

A couple of games? That is ridiculous! The most punishment he should receive is maybe a couple of quarters in a game. This kid did nothing wrong and it happens in every game. This is only highlighted because a moron reacted in the wrong way, there is no way that this waste of talent should still be on scholarship. If he is on a football scholarship and now can't play football, why is he still there on the school's dime? The school should really hammer this kid and make him pay back the last three years he just wasted, then boot his a55 to the curb.

After some research, I partially agree with you; Blount's punishment wasn't enough. He is still on scholarship. I didn't notice that when I first read the story about his suspension. He will still attend school on their dime, he just can't play football.

I think Byron Hout, the BSU player, should sit a couple of games because he made first contact. Not only did he mouth off to Blount, he pounded him the shoulder, then he got pounded back.

i agree with PSimon, the idiot walked up and got in his face. made FIRST contact and started talkin trash then proceeded to get his bell rung! It was funny because he though he was going to be a big tuff guy and ended up on the ground wondering where the last 4 seconds of his life went! All could have been avoided if the BSU player had a little bit of CLASS and just shook hands. just goes to show you that winning CAN be ugly too. As for Blount, yes, he sould be suspended for the remainder of the year, but Byron Hout needs to be suspended as well. handled internally with the media exposure that the situation got is not enough.
Shua B.- Oregon won't take his scholarship, he basicallly would have to forfeit it back to them. Numerous players have been kicked off teams doing MUCH worse and are still allowed to finish school if they wish. It IS sad and wrong but the way it is i guess.

Killer,

You are absolutely right, Hout did make first contact when he patted him on the shoulder pad. However I saw alot of guys patting each other on the shoulder pads after the game so your point is mute. Blount has a history of being a dumba55. He was kicked out of practice earlier this year for starting trouble with his own teammates.

Oregon should start a trend here and take the scholarship back. After all, they are the ones who offered it to him, they should be able to take it back.

shua,
i am totally onboard with the schlarship termination. He IS a DUMBA$$! But, for the BSU player to come up and instigate a situation is also unnacceptable. Good sportsmanship goes both ways. totally unavoidable situation.

Hold on, like I said before, Blount boldly exclaimed after last years loss that Oregon was going to hand BSU "their a55" this year. If Hout went up and said "hey, you really handed us our a55.", that is not bad sportsmanship. All Hout did was use Blounts words against him. This stuff happens all the time on the field but it isn't highlighted because most athletes know how to handle themselves in defeat.

As far as a punishment for Hout, I agree with wyo1.

I haven't seen where Blount said they were going to hand BSU their a##....they showed a quote during the game that where Blount said Oregon owed them an a##whoopin', which ain't quite the same thing. The fact remains that if Hout doesn't pound Blount on the shoulder and grab him, Hout doesn't get decked, BSU doesn't have video to show non-stop as Blount is running off the field to rile up the fans and noone is suspended.

Hout started this and will walk away unscathed.

I wonder how many people would be coming to Hout's defense if played for someone other than BSU (or Notre Dame Smile).

no way, all hout had to do was do what al the REST of his teamates did. as i said earlier i definatly do not condone what Blount did but Hout was the antagonizer. Immaturity was a huge part in this. PSimon is right, Hout dose'nt taunt him, he dosen't get knocked out. Period.

I have misquoted him. I apologize.

Blount started this when he ran his mouth. Hout just reminded him that he is a dumba55. Hout hasn't walked away unscathed, he walked away with a sore jaw and the embarrassment of being knocked down on national television.

Good one. Beer
