Packers fan or not, you have to be bummed to see the end of an era. I thought he had one more in him. It just sucks that his last pass as a pro was an interception.

Yeah it sucks about that INT, especially when it gave the game away in OT to the eventual Champs.

It's kinda sad that it's the end of an era for a true gunslinger QB who's legend was built on making something out of nothing when the play or protection would break down. Hopefully Big Ben follows in his footsteps for a long time to come in that regard.

At the same time, it was probably about time for him to go. Yeah he could've played another year but he well knows that it is by no means gaurunteed to have a repeat of last season's success. Anything less than a Super Bowl win would've been a huge disappointement.

I can tell you that Aaron Rogers is doing cartwheels right now. He's ready, and I think he's gonna be good.

He looked good against Dallas last season after Favre went out. In fact, he very nearly won that game for them.

How would you like to be the guy to follow Favre? I can't imagine. THAT would be the toughest job in football.

Probably just has hard as it has been for those that have followed in Marino's and Elway's footsteps. Wink

Yep, except with the fanatical fans of Green Bay's, it may be the hardest of all.

Well a primary difference is that Rogers is a 1st round pick that has been groomed the last few years to replace him. I think Denver just brought in Griese on the fly and threw him to the wolves. Maimi had nothing from what I recall. And let's not forget that before this last season alot of GB fans were actually calling for Favre to walk away. Marino was nothing special at the end of his career. GB fans have been spoiled with a HOF franchise QB for 16 years....and now they get to see what it's like on the other side. If Rogers is as good as I think it won't be much of a transition for them. If not, it's GB's turn to play QB carousel.

Probably about as much fun as it was for Jay Leno taking over for Johnny Carson. Eek

I spent 4 years stationed up in Cheeseland and I have to say that nothing compares to their fans. Losing Favre is like losing a relative to them. Favre was/is a model for "HEART" and "the love of the game" in the NFL. Wouldnt surprise me at all if we see little of him after he retires. Shouldnt need the money I hope...

I used to not like Favre because he was the qb for the team my obnoxious uncle liked. Then when I truly started to love football i could see why many people think that he was the best to ever play the qb position. I still cant believe he played all of those games in a row w/out missing one.

As for rogers, i think he is going to do fine. He has been waiting for like 4 years now. If he isnt ready then that was a waste of a first rd pick and four years

Nice picture, Dan.

I visited a Green Bay eatery once. I was right outside the practice complex during the off-season. The locals were all watching taped games and actually rallying behind the Packers though they already knew the outcome. When a couple of my shipmates finally got their chili with spaghetti, we sat down in their midst to observe their behavior. It was then that we learned that no less than 4 out of the 12 children in the place were named Brett, including one girl. And it was then that I visualized what you posted.

Thanks for either bringing me closure or opening an old mental scar...

Aw, come on Carter. You should have learned long time ago not to cheer for the Lions. Still taking to many pucks to the head, eh?

Wow, an actual Lions fan. If nothing else you must be true fan. With Brett retired, Tavaris Jackson still the starter in Minnesota and Rex Grossman getting another year in Chicago, Jon "get back on the bench" Kitna might be the best Q.B. in the N.F.C. North. It's a sad state of affairs for starting Q.B.'s in the N.F.L..

Jeff and friends,

I will admit that I am a true Lions fan and seeing Farve the Larve retire doesn't sadden me one bit. Screw the Packers.

I admire your loyalty. I guess after getting your @sses kicked twice a year by the Packers since the begining of time could cause a lot of hostility and frustration.

What the h#ll is a Larve?

Good morning Ladies and gentleman. It's the Dean here. I stated in a earlier thread this would happen. First of all let me say i'm glad i had the chance to see him play. What a thrill to watch a guy that truely loves the game. I can't recall him ever whinning about money. A hang nail or a stubbed toe(thats turf to the harden fans.)He has some great players to work with then the average. He still went out and played his heart out.Passion for the game id play gladly for 80,000 and medical beneifits.I still remember seeing Sweetness run the ball and of coarse the Lions Barry Sanders omg what a running back. So to have the chance to see these greats to play with true passion on some not so great teams at times makes me stand and clap and say thank you. So thanks you for the memorys Bret. but i always bleed black and gold
