That happens often. You can probably find some Youtube vids of it.

Surface Force had a security guard working at his undergrad institution who had at one time been Chief of Police a few towns over. Wondered how/why a former Chief of Police would be working as a rent a cop until he got the straight story from one of his classmates. Seems the gent had gotten nabbed by Dept Fish & Game for poaching...FROM HIS POLICE CRUISER! Needless to say, his career in that particular state was over. Eek

Look at the famed old Police Chief Charles Moose from Montgomery County after the DC area sniper attack. He resigned after the ethics comission refused to allow him to participate in a made for TV movie over the attacks. Hes a beat cop in Honolulu last I heard.

If you'd like a good chuckle. Back about 36 years ago or so, one particular CG 82' and occupants thereof, were nabbed by the Maine Clam Cops. Mid night deer hunting by spot light, from boats, was frowned upon in that region. Some very senior 'O' types from District were guests of honor in that little faux pas. No RFC in that episode, just some serious embarassment for getting nabbed in a time honored tradition.

Not related to attempted poaching of manniquen deer, but some of my USCG sources told me (circa 2003) of STORIS getting spotted inexplicably anchored in a bay IVO Kodiak Island and a good portion of its crewmmebers nabbed by ADF&G hunting in the adjacent "no-hunting" area owned by Native Americans.

Thanks for the info on Chief Moose, T. He did seem to drop off the face of the earth.

And in that same venue, probably prepping and research for the future air sniper program.

It has been reported that the HH 3F helicopter was an ideal aerial platform for poaching four legged furry creatures Big Grin. At least one crew was chastized in the 1980s due to interest by that same Alaska Dept.

On another side, there was an 82' in Newport, RI, that was reported to have a deepsea fishing fighting chair as a part of its deck inventory. Did quite well in many of the tournaments south of Cape Cod.

When we would pull week long SAR patrols on the Taney we would anchor in Drake's Bay, north of San Francisco, once in awhile. Grapnels out....crab pots in....we did always reset the pots after selecting our dinner though.
