If you watch ESPN "First Take" they all want Manny to be a winner over the Red Sox because of how 'badly' they treated him. Badly? They paid him $20 million a year for the last 8 years!!! They put up with all of his crap on and off the field because of how awesome he is. Won't run out a ground ball? No problem, because you hit home runs... Won't hustle to catch a fly ball? No problem, because of all your RBIs.
Funny how he was having a pretty mediocre season before we traded him away and now all of a sudden he is in the MVP discussions for the national league. He QUIT on the Red Sox! And now he'll be rewarded for actually playing for the Dodgers? Give me a break!

Absolutely no doubt that he did turn the Dodgers around. My complaint is that he quit on the Red Sox. He sat out games complaining of leg injuries and forgot which leg to limp on. He came in one game agains the Yankees to pinch hit and watched three straight strikes go down the middle from Mariano Rivera to end the game. As a fan, I put up with his crap for years because of the fact that he produced. Once he quit on hit team, that all ended.
I understand you are a red sox fan, but you have to admit its not just Manny that turned this team around. Look what Joe Torre has done. I know you are happy just like him that the Yankees did nothing this year.
Great win tonight. There were some chances where the Rays almost got back in it, but the pitching rose to the challenge each time. Hopefully we can keep the momentum going.
1110 - I take it you have been to Philly lately; because it is truly in need of a clean sweep! Don't get me wrong, I love Philly, but the city of botherly love could use some simple green!
LOL, a few bbls of simple green as part of a comprehensive fresh water washdown.
Back to the game tonight/this morning. The Red Sox were holding their own until Timlin went in...but I seem to remember the Red Sox losing another playoff game in 2003 when he went in as a releiver as well. My distinguished colleage Kevin aka LetsGoRedSox knows which game I'm talking about there.
...but he's also told me he doesn't like Timlin much either. 1000+ games in the majors and only 4 starts.
I'll support the Rays if they finish off the Red Sox. I just find it funny that all of a sudden they have fans coming out of the wood work. If they had these fans all along, they wouldn't be talking about relocating the franchise. I'm not doubting that they have some true dedicated fans out there, but not to the extent that they have in the last few weeks or so. I just hope it doesn't end up like the Marlins (packed during the world series and back to 1000 fans per game during the regular season). It's hard to get sell outs in every game when the majority of the local population is retirees on fixed incomes.
