Hey Josh,
The pitchers would need to wear helmets as well as cages to protect themselves. I would like to see all baseball with wooden bats as well as golf going back to the older equipment with the small blades and persimmon woods. Sprots technology is ruining the game. I also would like to see helmets removed from hockey to open up the game a bit as well as maybe limit the amount of protective armor a player is allowed to wear. I also want to see them reduce the sizde of the goalie pads, blockers and glove.
Drop by for lunch 12-1 when you get the chance,
Dick

Maybe a whiffle ball. That would be cool! Maybe then I could be a pitcher in Big's. I've got a NASTY sinker with a wiffle ball.

What's with the hockey sticks today? Aren't many of them something like titanium or what? Am I correct in thinking the shaft is metal but the blade is wood?

Just wondering?

Don, most of the shafts for hockey sticks are carbon fiber. It makes them lighter and you can shoot a wicked wrister a hell of a lot better because of the flex in the stick.

Dick, I still want to meet up and when I get a break at work, I will get in touch with you to come over and have lunch.

On the first page when I said "wicked" slap shot that the fan got hit by....it got me a little nervous. It's been two decades since I said "wicked" anything. I've got that New England talk sneaking back. I sure hope I don't start saying caaa or yaaaad again! All those years in Florida for nothing. Big Grin

The bats break from thinner handles and crappy wood. I used to work for my local minor league team for about 15 years and lots of guys even then complained about "bad wood". And to answer the obvious question, no, it wasn't only the guys whose batting average was less than their body weight! I remember a couple of guys taking a bid ham bone and rubbing downs their bats to compress the grain and make the bat "harder".
