If you have any good hunting or fishing pics taken this year, please post them up. Good stories to go along with the pic are nice too.

I just pulled my cam card after 4 days. Hoping to get some local turkeys. Hopefully that peskey fox will get lost. We'll check it again on Sunday.

Tony - dust off your cam and get'r out.

Slightly off topic, but worthy....

If like to watch outdoor shows like hunting and fishing, nature and don't have the Outdoor Channel in your cable package, the below site should take care of your fix. Lot's of good hunting, fishing shows on here for free. The link bar at the top has the different categories of outdoor shows. This link below takes you to the hunting section. Click on a show that you like, when it opens up, look at all the episodes on the right side of the screen, pick the one that interests you and start watching. They come in 2 - 4 parts, probably due to bandwidth?? However you can watch the whole episode. When they get to the commercials, you can drag the little square below the screen to the right to bypass the commercials, unless you see something that catches your eye.

Swapped cards this afternoon. Still no turkey pics yet. There was some scratching on the trail coming in. This pic is of a young buck starting to shed it's winter coat.

A couple more. The first one might be one of the above deer. Shedding pretty good. I'm surprised to see the deer still sporting head gear. Still no turkeys. I moved the cam this afternoon to an old salt lick that is attracting all sorts of animals. We'll see....

Whats with the Spike? I thought all the bucks had shed now.

Got a fly fishing trip coming up, ill take some pics.

I did get a Turkey this year. Long story, but it looked a hell of a lot bigger than what it turned out to be. I briefly imagined myself as a pilgrim, living off the land. Took a shoot at a nice bird in the back yard. You can imagine my disappointment when I picked up the bird, and it looked a little smaller than a pigeon. Not sure what the hell I was shooting at.

I did put out the cam over some bad meat a few weeks ago. Came up with these.

Nice hawk pic. I did the same thing last year.

I was talking to some other hunters in MD and Oregon. They were seeing deer and elk still wearing headgear.

I have two cams out right now. I'll try to get a 3rd out this weekend and swap cards on the other two.

I made a new cam the other day. This link has a couple of practice pictures. I put the cam into action this past weekend.

John

I remembered your pics of the Hawk, which gave me the idea to try it.

You made a trail cam? Wow, where did the plans for that come from? How hard was it?

I have a beaver who keeps repairing the dam I keep pulling apart. I might set a cam at the dam to catch pic or two.

You can make a great trailcam cheap.

There are several makers of the boards. Here is the latest one I just got. It's about 2" x 2"

http://www.bfoutdoors.com/PDFS/Microsoft%20Word%20-%20B...g%20instructions.pdf

This is how it's wired to a Sony P41 camera.

http://www.bfoutdoors.com/PDFS/Connecting%20a%20Sony%20...Bigfoot%20Sensor.pdf

Here's the main website. This board is $42. A few assorted parts (4 wire flat cable, clear fresnal lens for the flash, 1" round glass for the shutter, a pre-made board bracket w/wide angle fresnal lens for the sensor, size 30 wire, etc) will be needed NMT $18 - $20. You can get all the hardware at this site. The company is in Pennsylvania, right up the road from you. You will need to buy some quality marine silicone. There might be a few other small items.

The cameras come from EBay. If you time it right, you can get one that works fine for around $50 - $80. The #1060 Pelican case is about $15.

I have about $145 in my newest camera. It's a 4.1 mega pixel. The wiring is easy.....I figured it out.

You have to trap and destroy beavers to get rid of the problem John. A good way to catch beavers in the open is to create a small spillway in there dam and the noise of the rushing water will get them up and busy in a hurry and then load them with lead.
Good luck with the beavers,
Dick Cool

Here is a couple pics I took two days ago of a Tom and a hen in my side yard.

The Ole' crow call had him going nuts. Set the camera to action and got him at full gobble.

Me too when I first saw him. They are roosting literally right next to my house. Every morning on they way to work they are down strutting around. This day I was on my way home from work and ran in and grabbed my slate and the crow call. The slate had him looking but when I blasted that crow call he went nuts. I have some good video of him going crazy. It's funny, I have been a turkey guy since I was very young. I remember my first take, I was out deer hunting a a whole flock of them came across the plowed corn field. I was so excited. I was back into the woods about 75 yards and I was loosing light. When I finally got a shot I couldn't see that well but I had a shot and took it. I got him! I was so excited I rushed out of my stand only to realize I had shot a hen. So I took her to the house only to immediately get scolded my my dad for shooting her. I will never forget that day. When I initially saw these two I was like I wish I had time to grab my bow, but now that they are out there every morning, I really enjoy it. I just sit there for a couple minutes and then head to work.

Trail cams are a wonderful thing. It nice to be able to reduce the amount of time pre-season scouting and waiting. I still enjoy that but is nice especially during an Alpha period. Nice pics and thanks for sharing.

Chuck
