The Red Sox announced yesterday that Jon Lester, 22, had been diagnosed with a rare form of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, a blood cancer, and will begin treatment in the coming week.
How about Varitek, though!!!! He is the only catcher in MLB history to catch 4 no-hitters. That is huge considering the catchers are the ones who call the games. Way to go Varitek!!
What a story of inspiration Lester is. Beating cancer, winning game 4 of the World Series last year, now throwing a no-hitter.
Great guy. Isn't he only 24? And last year Clay Buchholz throwing a no hitter at the age of 22 I think. Man, the years ahead look good for the Red Sox.
