My DH cross rate in Oct 08 and he is still at his old command. The new rate detailer kept his PRD the same, so when he tried to get orders after he crossed he was told he was not up for orders yet. The detailer was telling him he needed to give him orders right away as soon as his cross rate paper work was complete. After that he said he was not up for orders as if he did not know who he was. Here we are in Jan and my DH is officially up for orders. He was told he could not go East because of funding. He chose west shore duty and was told he could not get shore. He chose west sea (squadron like)duty and he said no. He last stated that he need to be apart of a ships command. There are no ships command on the jass for this rate on the west. When he converted over he was told he would have to go to school. The detailer said he could not get him into school at the time now he is saying he needs to go to a ships command and he is going to chose one. According to my DH PRD we still have 5 months to chose before the chose for you. Can someone tell me what is really going on with this detailer?

Unfortunately, I know exactly what you are going through with the OS1 Detailer. The past two times I was up for orders I had similar experiences and it is very confusing when the Detailer's story changes every time.
No Overseas to Overseas move and NEC school missing out of your orders are cost saving measures. Then when you show up w/out the required NEC you find yourself force transferred to an unwanted command. Since you were force transferred you do not get the $36,000 AIP everyone else is getting because you did not negotiate for those orders.
Sorry, the rant is over.
Fortunately, I quickly learned the score. Stop trying to communicate with the detailer. Unless requesting to be released to the Special Sea or Shore Programs Detailers, the days of verbal negotiations are history. Look at JASS and submit for the ones you are willing to accept. As long as you submit for numerous billets, you will get selected for one of them.
Nowdays an OS1 can be selected for Surface, Air, or NECC Billets. There are Sea and Shore Duty Billets for OS1's in each of these communities.
William: no there is not a billet for a OS1 at his current command. He has been working with the CCC the entire time and the CCC has been confused also.
Romeo:sorry to hear about your situation. It seems you were going through the same thing. My DH decided to do the same and no matter what he selected the detailer turned it down. Even when he told him what to select.
Thank the Lord, the guy who crossrate him is helping and it seems things are going to work out.

Have your DH talk with his CCC and/or XO about contacting the ECM (detailers boss) if things don't seem to be moving forward. As soon as he put on OS1 he should have had orders out of the command.

We figured he should not be here. He is still working at his old job doing paper work. He has been an OS for 3 months and there are not billets where we are currently stationed. His PRD is still the same under the old rate nothing changed but his rate. He has been choosing orders as he normally would since he would have been eligible anyway. I will definitely pass this info on to him. Thanks for your help!
Curious how things turned out for you all, so Pls Give us an update.
You mentioned that there are no OS billets where you are currently stationed. The only Air Stations that do not OS Billets were the previous TAR Stations i.e. - NAS Atlanta, NAS Dallas, and NAS New Orleans.
Hi Romeo, we are still here at the old command. My dh was told he need to find a ship for the AIC rate (0318) we have only seen shore so we are still praying something comes up. Thank for asking!
Sorry to to bring up an old post, but now that I am in my window I am seeing what you went through with this Detailer.
No big surprise, but he makes up the rules as he goes along and contradicts himself often in email(even with the old emails attached). My CMC and CCC have both come away after talking with him with nothing good to say.
Any OS's entering you window be prepared for some funtimes with this guy.
