Hello.
I'm going through my out processing for nuc prototype in NY and got orders to Groton, CT on the USS Pittsburgh. I had some questions on housing, more so the possibility of housing. All we heard throughout the pipeline was that we're going to be living on the submarine unless we were an E-5 (currently an E-4). This is me hoping that isn't true. I'm prepared to deal with it. I was wondering, is it a BEQ on base or a rack on the sub until I make E-4? |

And did you believe the one about the square needle in your left nut at bootcamp? I love all these rumors.
Dang NUBS You live onboard if you are on a target not a boat. |

Not always. I visited Bremerton this summer and stayed in the Visiting Quarters. While there, I talked with several MCPOs and Warrants and guess what, when their target ships were in home port they live ashore, including lower rated personnel. They have rooms which are theirs for as long as they are attached to the ship, including while on extended deployment. There are 2 buildings, one 10 story and one 14 story and 2 more larger buildings under construction. I had heard of this but did not know that it was already in place. And oh yeah, 8 section liberty in port - unheard of in my day |
