I need a little help or some suggestions. I have found a beer bread recipe that I want to try. The beer I normally drink is either bud lite or busch lite.

Need some help or suggestions as to what you guys might like!

I do know that beer bread is delicious, though I am not sure as to how to make it. It would make sense that you might want a more flavorful beer though, but I'm not sure.

Don't use a lite beer. Buy yourself a real beer that you like and use that. I'd go with bud and you can give the ones you don't use to your hubby if you don't drink it. (or mail it to me in a brown paper bag Big Grin)

If it ain't Guinness Extra Stout, it ain't really beer.
Now having stepped on my crank with that statement, let me just say this about that.

I'll buy the beer etc., etc., and pay the shipping, if you'll do the baking, and mailing. Beer Wink

RIver rat Sure no problem I don't mind baking at all!. Give me the particulars and consider it done! I have thought of guiness. I was wanting to try this and give it at away at Christmas time to neighbors, friends, and family. I do this every year.

And Gerry I am a sailor so any beer that I buy I will drink!. But more than two and I am officially ****faced. LOL! I just drink the lite stuff because I am trying to keep my girlish figure. LOL and Busch lite is cheaper by the case than bud!

OK...first off, stay away from anything saying Bud, Miller, Coors, etc...that is not beer, that is like making love in a canoe...****ing close to water.

Look for the more flavorful beers and microbrew type of stuff, anything really mass produced will not be the same, exception being Guiness, it is a stout and stouts have strong flavor. If you are looking for a more fruit sweet taste, try a Belgian Lambic...those are quite tasty. A nice Trappist Ale would also be a good choice, darker red ales, or scotch ales would also be good, again something with flavor. Stay away from the lighter beers, don't use a lager, which is what most mass produced beers are, stick with an ale. Also try the beer before using, you don't want some light-struck (skunky) beer.

Thanks you DC2! This helps alot! I even thought of using some of my dad's home brew. I am sure that I will enjoy the tasting before baking method. Then I will be a basted baker. LMAO!

Stumbled across this ,whats the recipe ? Will it work in a bread machine ? Come on , give , please . Gotta watch out for sugar and starch so any that I ingest must be worth the points on my meter and this sounds like a posibility of combining several of my favorites in one shot , keeping the resultant spike down somewhat . Big Grin

I think it might work in the bread machine as it is a quick bread. Just don't knead it! When I get a minute I will get the recipe from the kitchen and post it. It looks easy!

Killians red is a favorite beer of mine as well! And have tried Leigenkugels(sp?)
