I just got back from a IA deployment with 1/12 in Ramadi Iraq about 5 months ago. I just selected a ECRC billet had picked Iraq but it was not available until months after my PRD, So the offered me HOA/Djibouti.

My questions are for those that are there or who were recently there. How's the infrastructure as far as living quarters, crappers, shower facilities, Internet access, chow halls, gyms, MWR facilities ect. PX/BX ect.

I really wanted to get back to Iraq because it has a pretty good set up. I already know it's hot as Dvlish

And current info would be appreciated I role out to ECRC San Diego in about 5 months.

Thank you

HM1,

I had posted a similar question almost a year back and got the same amount of responses you have thus far "Zero." My take is that there has not been enough IA's sent there let alone any that troll around Mil.com to comment.

I myself would still like to know more on it as I'm sure there is going to be more IA requests coming for the place.

You can find some things out about Camp Lemonier on google search. I stopped in there for a short period last year while out in CENTCOM. Can;t really go into much but to say they had a 24 hour sandwich area that was pretty sweet.

HM1,
I did a 8 month depolyment there last Aug. Its not too bad there, as for living qtrs you will live in what they call a Conx Box, its essentailly a trailer divided in two by a thin wall and 2 ppl live on each side. the Living area is nicknamed CLU-ville, hopefully you live in one of the first blocks of the CLU's because if you live in the back its a long walk every morning. you will share a head with everyone on ur block so bring shower shoes and such (normal things for deployment.)

Internet access is up to you actually, some ppl buy antennas for their CLUs and get internet in them or you can go to the MWR locations that have Wifi or lan lines..

Chow hall is incredible. If you want to get in shape its a great place. If you want to get fat its a great place lol. And the gym is 24/7 so like always utilize it on deployment. PX is decent actually. Has most anything you will "need" not saying you will be able to splurge on comforts but its nice.

Anything else don't hesitate to ask.

Depends on who you're attached to. Our sister platoon went there for their deployment. I mean, it's Djibouti. But, from what I hear on our side, it's ok. I don't know about amenities.

Thanks for the replies, I can live with staying in a conex type place versus a open bay. I didn't have it to bad in Iraq since I lived in my BAS and had everything I needed in Ramadi.

It's good to here they have some decent stuff, it's defiantly not built up like Iraq.
