San Antonio recruiting commander fired

Staff report
Posted : Wednesday Jul 9, 2008 6:26:39 EDT

The commander of Navy Recruiting District San Antonio has been relieved of his command after an investigation found he had created “an unacceptable command climate,” according to a Navy announcement Tuesday.

Cmdr. Vincent Quidachay was relieved Monday by the commander of Navy Recruiting Region West, Capt. Kathy Baran, according to an e-mail from Lt. Cmdr. Lisa Braun, a spokeswoman for Naval Recruiting Command.

Steve Hendrickson, a spokesman for Navy Recruiting Command, would not elaborate about the ways in which Quidachay’s command climate had allegedly become “unacceptable.” Hendrickson said the investigation that uncovered the problems was spurred by a tip called in to a Navy Recruiting Command hot line, although he didn’t know when that tip came in or how long the investigation had lasted.

Braun’s announcement mentioned specifically that Quidachay’s recruiting district had met its goals for fiscal 2008.

Quidachay is the second recruiting district commander relieved in as many months. Baran relieved the commander of Naval Recruiting District Denver, Cmdr. William Pieseski, in June for failing to meet his goals.

Quidachay’s executive officer, Cmdr. Angela Katson, has assumed command of NRD San Antonio, according to the announcement.

...and then sticks her buddy 'Angela' in there. Wonder if they have to stay 'in sync'? Wooo Hoooo!!!!!!!! Oh, well...Wait, wait - there's more! Reporters Beware! Be careful what you ask 'Lisa' at her monthly press conference!

Oh, how 'non-pc' of me. Beer

I'll say this. Recruiting sucks. I was 25 with chest pains every night. When I went to the doctor, he said, and I quote, "Once you leave recruiting, the pain will go away."

And it did. And I will NEVER do it again...but I'm glad I did do it...just NEVER again.

Hey, we need Ski Lemanski, our 'person in San Antonio', to check this out - and report back. If anyone 'sees' her, pass it on.

I'm here Mac. In response to the original article I dont have much of an opinion. I'm not really in the loop with the recruiters around here; with the exception of the one I'm dealing with trying to go back active, but he's a freakin nail so I'm not totally surprised either.
In response to the comments about gender issues with it well, y'all wouldnt be saying the same thing if it were a male relieving females and replacing them with males. We don't know the situation surrounding the CAPT, the CMDR's or their respective districts.

Well Mac, I can do you one better - my husband Yggdrasil (who has been placed on an indefinite suspension - you know, the ones that you send emails to the person who suspended you and they never answer you back) is not only a Personnel Specialst, but is attached to NRD San Antonio. CDR Quidachay was his CO.

Hold the phone and lets address this right now since you put it up on the forum.

If Yggdrasil sent an e mail to GerryRM3@Yahoo.com as instructed, I would have recieved it. If he sent it to a military.com address I wouldn't see it. He was never placed on indefinite suspension, I reserve that for posers. He only had to agree to one term to return and he could have done so the next day.

Now would you like to relay the message or do I send one to him?

Hey, RR! And the funny thing is - it isn't the 'war' we thought it was going to be at the outset! Hee hee hee - Laissez le bons temp, etc..

RR, I'm not war talkin' with anyone. I'm just stating my interpretation of the comments as posted. Now, if anyone wants to war talk I can do that. I was told twice today that I should go to law school...... Roll Eyes

Thanks Catherine.

Ironically enough I was in line at Wal Mart today with an SH (dont know his rank) that works for NRD SA. He isnt saying what he knows about the conditions surrounding the reliefs but he did say the new CO is very competent and he is glad to have her on board. It was a very sincere statement and definitely not trying to blow smoke up my a$$. So no matter why she got the position she's apparently at least pleased part of her subordinate group.
