For the life of me I cannot track down the measurements for the placemen of the collar devices and cover device on the new service uniform.
I am hundreds of miles from the closest Navy facility so I can't just go ask Supply and I can't find anything of use on the internet (imagine that). Can someone hook me up with the proper regs?
Also, why the hell doesn't the NEX have any of the rank devices online? I realize you can order the old winter service pants and an O/Chief shirt - but I can't find the proper rank devices for sale.

Can't help with all of the above but.....
b. E2-E6 personnel wearing the male Service Uniform (SU) Khaki Shirt or female Overblouse will also wear anodized (highly polished) miniature rank/collar devices (article 4331.2e) on both shirt collars points as prescribed below.

Shortcut I used for my collar devices - a US Quarter. Little something a fellow Chief showed me years ago when I was a white hat.
Take the quarter with the obverse side (George W.) facing up. Place on collar with the bottom of the quarter touching the front and lower edge of the collar.
Take the collar device, and put the bottom pin on top of the quarter in a straight line from the top of George's head. The point of the chevron should be just touching his head.
I had one khaki shirt that had a seam on the underside of the collar to help you get the device in a straight line. Don't know if they have that on what is coming out now.
I am not sure if I like these new uniforms. I was visiting family in Chicago the other weekend. My brother lives down the road from Great Lakes. We were out for breakfast on Sunday morning and a bunch of booters came in. I thought they were Marines at first. Maybe it will be an aquired tasted.

I sure hope so MP because i get practically sick to my stomach everytime I see that uniform. Although the whites were difficult to maintain, and the Johnny Cash's were a little snug, I think they were sharp uniforms and made us as sailors stand apart. This new uniform almost makes it seem as though whoever came out with the design was really ashamed of the fact that they couldn't be a marine. I am by no means old school, but it has always been my opinion and a point of pride that I was going to EARN my khakis, not issued them.
Hi just want to weigh in with I am with you on the earning of the khaki and have another question is anyone still in now ? i'm prior service got out in 92 did the reserves from 200 to 04 now in the national guard yeah I know I know but i'm in the process of getting released from the national guard and was told sailors don't sleep on ships anymore unless you have duty and they take away your bah and you find an apt/house and they pay the rent/morgage and utilities is that true and is there a scale for that ? just found this thread and trying to find out all i can thanks
