When it becomes SNAFU at work, and the stress level is bumming you out. Where would you rather be at that time?
For me, (back in my day), it would be a bar, ANY BAR, in Olongapo.
Ah yes, I would much rather be there with a cold San Miguel in hand, and a band playing the old songs. And with a cute bar hostess next to me asking endless questions.
I'm sure it's different places for sailors these days. But the song remains the same. It should be a fun place, a happy place, a place of pleasant memories.
And yes, even home again partying, fishing, riding, swimming, hiking, what ever!
So tell us where you'd be!

I have been to so many great liberty ports including the two mentioned, but the ones that stand out are. not in necessary order are
1. Acupolco Mexico
2. Rio de Janeiro Brazil
3. Halifax Nova Scotia
4. Palma/Malaga Spain
5. Singapore

I was fortunate to be a west and east coast sailor.

Kos, Greece or Benidorm, Spain - checking out the melon harvest at the topless beaches.

You know that look a woman gets when she wants sex? Neither do I.

One of two places and they are both islands.
Taboga in Panama or a little island in the middle of lobster bay Nova Scotia. Two very different locations but time it right and the fishing is world class. Cool

The Jetty Bar, Nawiliwili, Kauai; any bar in Papeete, Tahiti. Olongapo is also up there, as well. Startlingly good libs on Prince Edward Island. I was amazed when I went there in early 50's.

Anywhere near the ocean (provided it's not too cold). Hearing the ocean, smelling the salt and feeling the breeze clears my head so well.

Why yes, yes I am Boats. I see you are too and also Fordham Mike. I was lured by the free t-shirt offer, which I have had for some time now. But I didn't have to do fifty posts to get it. I got it right away by signing up for a four year enlistment with them. No. I think it was only 25 posts to get it when I joined. It's a good forum to even tho it's not as big as this one. Interesting to read the different responses to some of my same topics. But what I really like is their "Preview" option in the post/reply window. You can see what your complete post looks like before it goes on line. Pretty cool.

The place I'd like to go to when stress is bad is a rocky point north of Brookings Oregon where you can feel the rumble through the rock and watch the build up in the V . When it crashes in and hits the the rock face the spray goes straight up then rains down . After a while ya just feel eased . Now I go there in my mind soon I'll go again .
