I'm looking for your expert opinion about the Merkava MK4... I'm confused about the sources online as to who built this tank.

Military.com has an article about this tank that says it was built by Lockheed Martin's Skunk Works Group.

But there are many sources online that says the tank was 100% Israeli designed and built, although non official, and there are no sources for the manufacturer of this tank in Israel, other then elbit Israeli company that actually contributed to the firing system, and the Engine by Germany/American companies.

Lockheed Martin's Skunk Works Group website http://www.skunkworks.net has no info whatsoever about building this tank.

Can you help clarify if this tank was built by Israel or by Lockheed Martin's Skunk Works Group?
