The Servicemember Civil Relief Act (SCRA) is what provides for this, so printing off a copy and taking it to the dealership should HOPEFULLY take care of it for you (a quick internet search can get you the full text of the Act to take).
From Mil.com:
Motor Vehicle Leases
Lease of a motor vehicle used, or intended to be used, by a servicemember or a servicemember's dependents for personal or business transportation if:
* the lease is executed by or on behalf of a person who thereafter and during the term of the lease enters military service under a call or order specifying a period of not less than 180 days (or who enters military service under a call or order specifying a period of 180 days or less and who, without a break in service, receives orders extending the period of military service to a period of not less than 180 days); or
* the servicemember, while in military service, executes the lease and thereafter receives military orders for a permanent change of station outside of the continental United States or to deploy with a military unit for a period of not less than 180 days.

and if the lease is in just your wife's name, you cannot get out of it..only if YOUR name as the deploying servicemember is on it.
There can be no freedom without sacrifice

Then yes, you definitely need to print off the actual act and fax/mail/walk it into their office and show them what you are entitled to. If you aren't in a military area, or even if they've just never had it happen before, then they may not be aware of the "rules".
