I've been thinking about all the stupid stuff that has happened over the last few months since my hubby has deployed.
The kitchen sink has stopped up, the garbage disposal quit. The repair man found a spoon my daughter dropped down in to it, causing it to jam. I'm glad it wasn't my wedding band. Big Grin
Last week the ceiling collapsed in my dining room; the guys that were repairing it had to stop their work in order for the housing people to debate the materials the ceiling should be constructed from. Sheetrock or plaster? Whatever! Gentlemen, Please! Just get my ceiling fixed. Roll Eyes
We were without heat for the entire month of Janurary. One of the coldest months in Oklahoma. The heating company had to order a part for the boiler from California. California? What the....? Where's the boiler parts supplier here in town? Mad Sheesh!
I've quit asking "what next", because "what next" usually happens. It is never a safe question to ask thyself.
Got a gripe? Post it. I like to think I'm not the only one who gets stuck dealing with the stupid stuff. Whatever the case, let's laugh about it while we're griping Smile

It's always like that. Wink
The minute they leave everything starts going wrong.

I locked my keys in the truck and my cell phone stopped working all at the same time.. great start to a deployment.

Holy cow, that's a lot of bad stuff! I hope it gets better and not worse!

I can hardly compare stories with you, but shortly after mine went off to BCT, my car got rear-ended!

The ironic part was that I was on my way back from the post office where I had just dropped a letter in the mail to him.

And the funny part... It happened in my own driveway!

It all worked out though. I got a shiney new rear bumper out of it and a 16-year-old girl learned a valuable lesson about the folly of texting while driving!

LAB---you what they say--shnit happens in three's....I think you've fullfilled your requirements. Smile

One of mine was: the mother of all hail storms hit, leaving the house cool but BOTH of our vehicles completely totalled.
One vehicle(mine) was only insured for liability. It had worse damage. And was buried in a foot of ice and hail stones.
The other vehicle--couldn't get it into the garage to save it. Why you wonder? Because the landlord didn't have a remote to it, and I wasn't about to get out of the vehicle, run into the house, hit the button, come back out in the hail--did I mention that they were tennis ball sized?!!?!?!?!? and pull in the Jeep.
So it stayed out in the storm.

I did get a nice vehicle out of my love's insurance check though. Smile

Well my wife wasn't happy at all. The fridge went out, then she got stranded in TX trying get back OK, and now she is stranded in MD trying to get back to OK. All I can say is hold on a few more months.

Been there, Done that and I have the shots to prove it.

Well nothing too terrible happened to me..I feel bad for you! But...

I found a stray cat and cuddled it for a little while before turning it in....which gave me ringworm ALL over my neck!

My son got his finger ran over by the shopping cart wheel (dont ask me how?!?) and we rushed to the ER, his entire fingernail was ripped off!

My car wouldnt start so I had to get it towed to the service station (not horrible, but stressful and one of those moments you REALLY miss your hubby!)

...But of all the horrible things that happen, good stuff happens twice as much, and the worst part about that is...it is much more heartbreaking when good things happen and he/she is not around. You can look back and laugh at the stupid stuff, but you will never forget how he missed the kids fist day of kindergarden, or your first three anniversaries!

The last time my DH deployed the pipes in the house burst and I didn't even know where the turn-off valves were. I had to run to a neighbor's house.

These things always happen.

I had to change the sewer lines(3,000)
A taxi hit me while I wasn't moving and the police give me a ticket because the accident happened in the exit of BK Confused whatever!

I got sick 3 times.
my slinding door broke in pieces.
Somebody hit my mailbox.
my doorbell doesn't work since he's gone.
and I'll stop before I start crying... Roll Eyes

The things that have happened during deployments:

garbage disposal quit- (but I replaced it myself Yay me!)

garage door quit
refrigerator quit
hot water heater quit
heater quit
toilet upstairs had to be pulled out and toys removed from neck
van died on New Years Eve (but a neighbor saved me on that one)

does completely running out of money count?- several times?

That happened to me years ago- but it was the water main into my duplex that broke. Pregnant, ignorant me, had no idea that there would be a shut off valve out by the street and not sure I could cut it off anyway, especially since I was on complete bedrest.

My landlord, a minister, was in church preaching when this happened. I ended up driving over, interupting the service and having his handyman (a church member) come out to turn it off. Eek

By the time we arrived back at the duplex, there were ducks swimming in the foot and half deep pool of water in my front yard!

Big Grin

I can laugh now, but at the time I kept thinking about how high my water bill was going to be!

Broken this, broken that; car accidents(no one was hurt)Er visits..just stuff that would occur if he was here or not.

Half the stuff I never even tell him..what is he gonna do about it anyway, ya know.

I have a clogged drain in the bathtub--my hair, I'm sure.

Soon after he left one of my glass doorknobs came off the door. They do that every so often but we think that they are so pretty, DH just fixes it again. Since I have no clue what he does, I use the doorknob as a key and just put it in the doorknob hole and turn. It works! Wink

Other than that, I can't think of anything else. I've been pretty lucky so far--knock on wood...

My point: I never was like this when DF was home.

First deployment...

Alternator went out in my van...so I began driving his truck. Two weeks later alternator went out in the truck. Paid to have both fixed after putting in brand new batteries in both lol. Few weeks later the AC went out in the house in themiddle of July. I rent so that was fixed within a few days time. Few weeks later the computer crashed. Had that fixed within three days. Dog got out a few times. Nothing happened to the kids though lol.

Current Deployment. Kids got sick, puking everywhere and coughing hystericaly. All three of them THEN MYSELF lol. Computer crashed few days after he left. Cell phone broke, got a new one but not getting any of the calls for two weeks. In the process of getting a new cell pohone now. Threatened with calling Social Services on me because the schools have lost the notes I sent in with the reasonings why the kids were out of school for 7 days right before husband left. STILL trying to get that fixed almost 3 months later. Have taken 7 month old son to the ER numerous times...more than my other two children EVER lol. Have to go to court for being hit by a drunk driver who is claiming INCOCENT haha.

Not even half way through yet lol.

This is our first deployment and well, things were fine until today. He's been gone for a month and it's been exactly a year since my wreck. Today I had a hanckerin' for a soft taco. I had to have one. The Taco Bell here wouldn't take my Visa bc the machines were down so I went to the one the next town over. I get to the drive-thru and my cars smokin'. Everyone's read in manuals and have been told that if that happens, pull the heck over and turn off the vehicle. So, I did. I popped the hood to find 2, TWO, hairline fractures on my radiator. I'm out here in the middle of California high desert with only one friend in the area and thank goodness she doens't move ot Washington until next week. I called her, she didnt' know what to do, but was coming to pick me up to take me home. I called my dad in Texas and he said," I'm fishin', ain't nothin' I can do." Obviously Daddy..words of encouragement would help right now.

USAA would be able to get a tow truck here -pay the eight dollars extra with them for the towing service- but it's Sunday and there ain't no shops open to take it. I can't rent a car today nor tomorrow bc of the holiday and on Tuesday I'm supposed to move on base. I needed chocolate and fast. Thank goodness for Starbucks hot cocoa and chocolate goodies. About an hour later we made it to the auto parts store and after sugaring the sales clerk a little he was able to identify a quick fix. Bars! It's this stuff that mixes with your radiator fluid and temp fixes the crack. Amen I made it home w/o it smokin'.
Thanks be to the automobile gods for allowing quick fixes. Tax return comes in this week so I can properly get it fixed sometime after the move.

I guess my worst so far for this deployment is me getting pneumonia to the point they were putting me in the hospital. It used to be the kids getting hurt or really sick, but now it's me.

^^^That would be awful! It was probably really hard on your husband to be away while you were sick and unable to be with you. Frown I'm glad you are feeling better. Smile
