Themed care packages are always fun.

Like a Halloween box - Halloween candies, put a bunch of it in one of those plastic pumpkins, Halloween decorations, etc.

Send corny/stupid/funny cards.

If he has a laptop send dvds, games he can play on the laptop, etc.

I'm sure you'll get plenty of ideas from others on here.

Write little notes for packages or emails. Even if you don't have anything to say, just to let him know you're thinking about him, and it prevents the downer of checking email and nothing being there.

Send a video of yourself (no, I'm not talking about a striptease, although I'm sure he wouldn't mind that either Wink ) but a chance to see you in moving action and to hear your voice and that you love him whenever he might need a pick-me-up.

Last deployment the kids and I set up the video camera and taped an hour of ourselves just being us! We had gone on a weekend getaway and he got to watch us swim, soak in the hot tub and laugh and smile. I thought it might make him sad at first but he said it made him feel better to know we were doing okay and having fun.
Pictures are a plus!
Taking time to talk about little things; from what the cat did to what you cooked for dinner, the normalcy of it carries over.
The best investment we made was webcams and headsets for both of us. It helps to see them when talking to them, it gives the intamcy in the conversation you cannot get with the phone alone.

Live simply. Love generously.
Care deeply. Speak kindly.
Leave the rest to God.

Last deployment I sent postcards every now and then. We communicated a lot actually, but every once in awhile I would just shoot out a postcard with something on it. Wink

I chat to him about the dumbest stuff though. lol...every day stupid things that happen, the cat suddenly crapping in the house, how our pooch is feeling better and the goofy things she's doing. Just every day dumb stuff that he knows I'd have told him about even if he was home sitting on the couch with me. Smile
