I was just wondering what life as an army reserve 13B is like... i.e what happens during monthly drills and annual training. I would assume what I've read in the active duty forum holds true in regards to 13B spending more time on infantry stuff lately as artillery isn't in demand as much as it used to be but I could be wrong. So... are there any reservist 13Bs that could enlighten me?
I deployed with an NG Artillery Battery and got to know those guys pretty well.
When money was good they had a lot of time on their guns, shooting up gridsquares and doing their job. When deployment time came, they were often tasked for Convoy Security, FOB Security, and in some instances patrolling.
To answer your question, during drill and AT they did Artillery stuff, but when combat arms jobs came up for deployments where there wasn't an operational need for Artillery they had experienced being cross-trained and running with the Infantry/CAV/etc.
