Your best chance is to go in as an officer. If you have a medical degree, nursing degree, or MBA, some advanced degree you go possibly go in as a direct commission. You stated you don't, so the deck is going to be stacked against you.
I know that the finance corps and medical corps take people up to age 60s. In the news just recently was a 58 year old woman that has joined the medical corp for a 2 year active duty contract. She has an advance degree. It basically boils down to what can you offer the military. If you have a special skill set and they need you then you can go in if you qualify medically and otherwise. At your age, it would a lot easier if you were a nurse, doctor, lawyer, CPA, etc to get in though.

As of today it is even worse. The age limit has been lowered effective 3/23 to 35 from 42. I was scheduled to get my physical on Thursday and swear in early next week and now it looks like a no go.

Hi Katana2665
Iam 40 and started the process on sept 2008, right now Iam either waiting news from my recruter or my medical waiver feedback. Since the ARMY is no longer accepting waivers and they lowered the age limit, are those changes already are in place in march 2009,going to apply me?

As of this post date, the age limit is still 42 for Army, the National guard lowered the max age to 35 not the Army.
