I was told I have to attend WLC as I never went. I came over to the Guard as a E6 from the Navy. I am 48 years old. been in the Guard almost 3 years now. To put on SFC I have to get this NCOES requirements done.

I went to WTC in 2007, reclassed to 21Y in 2008. In both active army TRADOC environments I was platoon sergeant. I had no problems. D&C can be daunting at first, but its not that hard. Leading PT I have done many many times, hundreds likely. I have done hundreds of counseling statements, etc...

I am headed to Ft. Carson's NG WLC course. Anyone been there? Anyone been to WLC and had a SSG there? Its always tough at first for me, letting cadre know that I do know what I am doing, and then things seem to fall into place. In my unit I am a squad leader. I am also up for Warrant Officer right now. I hope to hear about that soon. Probably wont get it as i dont have these NCOES courses yet, but there is always next year.

Any help would be appreciated. I dont have issues with Land Nav. ( I am a geospatial engineer so it woudl be embarrassing to screw up that!!!), CLS certified (for deployment). the FTX stuff is always fun, seems every place you go wants it done differently, so just go with the flow. I do love learning something new, especially the tactical stuff that you 11B's do, I dig that stuff.

I think my biggest issue will be relearning that NCO creed...

Well, time is on your side. YOu will be aces on the PT test.
Think as an SPC stuck inside a SSG.
All soldiers will take turns being a SL, PG, leading PT in the AM/PM.
You will have to suffer through a lot of Land Nav....help the youngins...And take a 3 hour tour... imean test on land nav...
FTX should be 3-4 daysish....defend this, capture that...ect...plan on bad weather as per army standards...
Lots of class work on stuff that will jog your memory....get up to speed on leadership FMs...ect..
And find out if they are going to require to make you go to BNCOC Phase one since i think it has changed....best 2 weeks of sleeping in class you will ever get paid for...
