Im currently 31 years old and just completed my bachelors degree..I would like to join the Navy as an officer. I have worked in law enforcement for 10 years and happen to be openly gay. I know the DADT policy and I would follow that policy if I joined, but is it going to be an issue in my background and will they even take me?

Most likely they would IF....you will abide by DADT.

As long as you don’t admit or acknowledge that you’re gay you should be fine, but if you have a choice you might wish to wait a few months until DADT is repealed.
