I'm not so sure this a new one. In fact you will find it has been around for several decades. it is a NSVT-12.7. And is used for tanks and AA almost never for infantry.
He might want to have a couple of extra shoulders layin around and a company of infantry surrounding him because as soon as he opens up, the enemy would be using all their might to take him out.
Seems like the Russians are still in their 'mine is bigger' mentality. That thing would only be good in a static defense on a broad expanse before it. Too bulky to use in a urban setting and as someone said, opposing forces will soon be after it once it fires. Might use it mounted on APC's as anti-air,armor.
It doesn't look any bigger than the .50 BMG. A lot bigger than the Browning though, and shoots a hell of a lot faster. As the others pointed out, it wouldn't be useful off a vehicle mount in the theaters the US is accustomed to. For the Russians, and their vast expanses, it could be handy though.
