Good evening everyone,
First off, thank you all for your service!! Second, I watched the Extreme Home Makeover TV Show lastnight and it was about a Marine that was injuried over in Iraq by the name of Daniel Gilyeat. It was such a wonderful and uplifting show. I am a 100% disable Veteran after 8 years of service in the Air Force. And I sure do miss it dearly, not a day goes by that I wish I was fine to re-up again and go fight for our freedom!! Ok, anyways the reason I am on this page is because I lost contact with my old high school best friend when I joined the AF. While watching the show lastnight I lost it when I saw him on the TV helping them build this house for his friend/brother Daniel. My jaw hit the floor and I have spent all day trying to locate them both Daniel and my buddy. My buddys name is Matt Young in the US MArines and he graduated from Olathe South High School in Kansas 1993. I saw he had 3 Hashmarks on TV also. I located 2 Matt Youngs in Kansas and talked with one on phone and he was the wrong Matt. The other number I have I just get a answering machine. If anyone on here could help, I would do anything to talk to him again! Thanks in advance for your help!! And thanks again for your Service!!! Kris Morgan XXXX XXXXX ST. MODERATOR, MARINE FORUMS I'm innocent! I'm the John Boy....... |
Kris,
I have sent SSgt Matt Young a e-mail with a link to this thread. He is stationed in Cherry Point NC and you may be able tou reach him via operator assistance. For your protection I am going to edit out your personal info in your post. Semper Fi Johnny Blaze If you're gonna shoot, shoot! Don't Talk. |

Thank you for helping me Johnny!!
I called Base locator and got 2 phone numbers and neither of them worked out for me. I was told by both they have no clue who SSgt Matt Young is. Guess I will keep my fingers crossed that your email to him works out. Thanks again for your help! Kris |

Still have not heard from him or anything. I am gonna keep trying though! Is there a listing somewhere showing who is currently in Iraq by chance? Thinking maybe he deployed again?

Unfortunately, that would be violating OpSec to publish that type of information. I'm not certain about Matt Young, but Daniel Gilyeat listed an address in Kansas City when he was discharged a bit more than a year ago. You may be able to reach him via operator assistance for that town. |

Yes I have tried to get into contact with Daniel through Operator and through other Gilyeats in the KC area. It seems his number has become unlisted since the Extreme Makeover was completed. One of the Gilyeats I talked with said they know him but are not willing to give him my information due to him being so harrassed since the show was aired. Informed them I was not a salesmen or anything, just trying to locate a old buddy, they said sorry gonna have to find another way to locate him without Daniel.

Sometimes, if it's not a common name, and you're confident that you may have the right city, Zaba Search can be a useful tool.

Still have not gotten anywhere on finding Matt. I did send Daniel and letter in the mail though, hope I hear something back soon!
Thanks though for those that have helped me! Kris |

Been over amonth now since I mailed the letter to Daniel in KC. Seems I will not have any luck locating Matt through him.
Any other ideas from anyone? Thanks, Kris |

Still no luck on my end.
Could you check and see if he is still stationed at Cherry Point please? Thanks, Kris Morgan |
