I am trying to find any type of information regarding troops that may have been in Viet Nam during '65-68. In particular, anyone who may have been shipped over there then sent or ended up in Cambodia during those years. My Uncle is having an issue in finding his military records. We have been through every place thinkable, inc. St. Louis but no one is able to locate anything. He would have been in teh 1st Marines Div. Airborne Special Forces. Not sure if any of the info is correct. If you know of or have heard of Roger M Wait, or have any recollection of the companies during those years, any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
"1st Marine Division Airborne Special Forces" = BS!!!
I was in Vietnam from Augusta 1965 thru December 1967. I never heard of him or of such a unit.
Maybe you should post this on the Khe Sanh vets website. They know all about such people. There are a lot of 1st Marine Division vets who frequent the site.
Here is an update to some additional information I have come across in search of answers. Sometime during 1966-1968 Mr. Wait was approximately 20 miles NW of the city of Phnum Penh, Cambodia. Has anyone been there?
Either Wait is delusional or a lier or both. Either way it is illegal to claim military service unless you can prove that you are or were a member of the U.S. military and have proof of the service that is claimed. If he had served there would be a record of that service.

I forgot how much of a jerk some marines could actually be. This person served in the Marines during those dates. Enlisted on 12/5/65 Discharged on 1/8/68. His first stop after enlistment was to Great Lakes Naval, then off to Ft. Benning for Parachute training, then off to Camp Pendelton. From CP he was sent to Viet Nam, which in turn ended him in Cambodia. When he got out he had a DD214, considering he was able to get a VA loan for a house in Illinois. However since those years he has had 2 house fires and have lost everything twice. All I was asking for was information on anyone who may have served during those times and in the areas that were stated. His health is not the greatest and we all forget things from time to time, as I am sure you do as well.
BS. If it is true it can be proven. Forward his information to the folks at pownetwork.org. They will be glad to verify any information. What is his serial number? What platoon was he in in boot camp? With what units did he serve? Every real Marine who comes to the Marine forums can provide that information about themselves and much more.

Mary Schantag of POWnetwork.org would like to have a home address for Wait so that his claim can be verified. If she doesn't receive it she will probably notify federal authorities of violations under the stolen valor act. You may contact Mrs. Schantag directly at Pownetwork.org.

We'd be glad to help locate records. Can tell you this sounds like a load of bull tho. Please provide his service number (which NO Marine forgets) and we'll show you there were NO Marine Airborne Special Forces troops EVER. No Marines were stationed in Cambodia till after 1970. You are being fed a crock of BS... can making false claims of military service is a prosecutable offense.
He was never stationed in Cambodia.. He was however stationed in Saigon and was sent to Cambodia for some sort of maneuvers. What ever the case may be, his memory is fading faster than I can smoke a cigarette and am just trying to find information. I am not in the military but I do come from a long line of military men in my family, namely marines and army. My father served in the marines (dont know what area cept for Korea and Germany) from 1944-1947. Hell if anyone knows his name I could sure use any info there as well.. Robert Wayne Alger, DoB 10/13/30 DoD 12/30/1997. From New Jersey. And yes by the time they found out how old he was at the time, they decided to keep him there for the 3 year term.
