Ground and Air sides are on a rotational basis, so no. Support folks are augmented to the MEU so in some cases you can choose. Support folks and HQ folks are normaly attached for a 3 year period (two floats)

Hey! I was there from 2000-2003. First float was on the USS Kearsarge (liberty cruise). 2nd float was on the USS Nassau (work float). The 2nd float was when a Sailor was lost overboard. I was with Command Element S-6

I was in MEU 24 when it formed in summer of 85!

I was the EEC (EOC by MOS) of the unit!
