No, it's not exactly like BMT. BMT is more focused on telling you what to do and how to do it. In FT you need to think a little more. Duration is 4-6 weeks depending on how much of AFROTC you have attended. See AFROTC.com for more info.
Just like coolgreany said, at FT, they're really focusing on thinking / leadership skills. Doing so under pressure is a large part of the training. During the first week or two, one of the big focuses was on IDE (individual drill evaluation) where you march a group around, but you're restricted to a small patch of ground, a specific time limit, and to a set sequence of commands that have to be completed without breaking the border. You'll also have the opportunity to have flight / squadron / wing leadership positions. In the end, it becomes the best time you never want to have again.
"Field Training: Mandatory fun with designated friends." It sucks while you are there but when you look back on it you realized that you had a ton of fun and learned more than you can comprehend.
