My sister is going to basic training this weekend for the National Guard, she is a single mother and my mother will take care of my niece. My question is: Does anyone know if my sister rates family separation allowance while in basic? And what kind of BAH will she get, is it full or type II which I know it’s according to rank not location? Thanks in advance for any responses.

All service members (all services) at basic training are considered on active duty no matter what component they are joining (reserve or guard). She is entitled to the full BAH rate for her loaction (as long as she provides proper documentation). She would get a little more money since she has a dependent. http://www.defenselink.mil/militarypay/ You can find out her pay and allowances amount at the website above.
