When's the best time to go to Texas for BMT? i think i'm gonna try an leave in January but i dont know if it will be TOO cold? i know texas heat an i know i dont want to be there when its hot but it does get cold in san Antonio so i can't remember if its really cold in January.
Actually, with the Air Force downsizing, many people are having to wait several months before the leave for BMT. When you go will be based on what job you get and when they have openings available.
'Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you: Jesus Christ and the American soldier. One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.'
I was there January through March. Now, I lived ten minutes from Lackland, so it wasn't hard for me. As for the cold, our one week of winter in Texas was warrior week for me, so we froze our little butts off. We were wearing our PT sweats under our BDU's. It depends on what you call cold though. It might get down to about 30 or so, but you'll be warm enough. Most of the time we were sweating, so I wouldn't worry about it.

I wouldn't worry about basic, its only temporary. There were a lot of good things and bad things, but to each their own. What I hated, you may love and visa versa. Did I like Lackland? I wouldn't mind going back on the other side of things, but as a trainee, it was kind of a blur.
