Don't quit

Don't hide injuries

Do everything you are told to the best of your abilities

Eyes & Ears Open, Mouth Shut!

Never Quit!

Don't eat too much junkfood at 30th AG (Reception).

Good Luck!

I appreciate all the advice and i have a few more questions.
Like what is the gas chamber like? I heard that for some people it is really bad and then for others they have to fake being sick or go back in.
Is that true?

It is different for everybody, hoever, the common denominator is that is SUCKS. You will don your mask before you go in. Once you go in, you will then be told to crack your mask. This is your first introduction to CS gas. It won't be too bad. Then you will be told to remove your maks entirely. This will suck. From here, depending on your DS' you could do any number of things. For me, it was replacing our Kevlar with the chin strap properly snapped, hold our rifle in the right hand by the slip-ring, and mask in the left hand. Once we had this done, we stood there for about 30 seconds (which felt like an eternity), and then we filed out. Anyone who didn't have their Kevlar properly done, or holding their equipment improperly had to go back in.

Some people actually dropped their masks and had to go back in to retrieve them. If the DS wanted to mess with you, you went back in. Some people went in 3 times.

Regardless, you come out with a runny nose (snot down tot he ground), eyes stinging, and coughing. You are then told to walk around in a cricle for about 10 minutes with your arms held at shoulder level. The effects wear off within minutes.

Our DS' told everyone to drink milk at breakfast the day we went to the gas chamber. DON'T do this! Milk produces mucous-- and if you're prone to nausea, will make you vomit inthe gas chamber.

When a DS calls you, the proper response is, "MOVING, Drill Sergeant!", yelled as loudly as you can. NEVER EVER EVER under ANY circumstances say "Coming, Drill Sergeant!"

LOL! Applause

Yeah, someone said "Coming, Drill Sergeant" while in Reception (30th AG), and the DS replied, "I don't want to hear about your sex life!"

Not hard at all, just pay attention to the four fundamentals and practice them in the bay at night. Dime and washer drills are boring as all get-out, but they do pay off. So don't slack on them. And like it was said earlier, don't hide injuries. Trust me, I did this for a week and a half in AIT and I got sent home on con. leave right before the final FTX.

When you go on pass, do not drink the energy drinks at the rec center and PX. Shoot, don't even drink the sodas. They *will* dehydrate you, especially since your body won't be used to the caffeine.

The gas chamber isn't too bad - just don't be a ***** about it and you'll be fine. Pay attention when they're telling you how to clear your mask, because I didn't, and it was even worse. But I know how to now! Big Grin

8 cycles of function.

Battle Drills.

Infantryman's creed.

-but you'll have to repeat those over and over when you get there, whether you know them already or not.

more importantly,
Don't open up your windows and yell back and forth to the platoon on the opposite side of the CTA...
Don't dry-fire your weapon at people...
If somebody tries to start ****, take it to the shower, not out in the bay...
If anything goes down, don't get caught.
Some dudes are gonna run around naked a lot, it's always funny, somebody always tries to slap the naked guys ass for some reason, awkward but still funny...
Try not to get involved in any nutball/nut tag/towel snapping of the genital area if at all possible. we're talking irreparable damage here.
Try to get your girl not to send pictures every week. depending on what DS is doing mail call at the time, he might end up recognizing her from highschool and bring it up every night...
Stay on good terms with your squad leaders, or at least pretend to get along with them, unless you like bickering back and forth about nothing.
don't talk too much, unless you got something really funny to say.

Basically If you go into it expecting to have a good time, you will.

one last thing: while you're busy making the walls sweat, do everything in your power to relax your mind. Remember that one - Relax your mind.
