Ft. Benning is a big place. Many different parts. Sand Hill is where the Infantry trains! Ah, good times. I'm not sure if BCTB also train there, but I don't think they do.

It's a mountain in the back woods of Benning that all recruits must low crawl up to earn their blue cord and cross rifles. The surface is bare sand because all vegitation has been worn away over the decades. It is covered with concertina wire, broken glass and booby traps. If you reach the top alive (mortality rate is 37%) you will likely be drenched in blood (yours and others) but will have earned the right to call yourself a US Army Infantryman. Only the strong survive.

Uhhhh.... yeah BCTB trains there too! I've got the orange-stained ACUs to prove it! Big Grin

2 1/2 months at D Co., 2-47 Inf. (closest barracks building on the same side of the street as the Sand Hill PX).

Geez, you forget I was there at the same time as you?

BCT did train there Wink c 3/330 08NOV2007

They closed 3/330, but we did train there as well. Maybe it was we were guinea pigs being tested to be drilled by Infantry drill sergeants and see if we could withstand infantry training.

Oh, the good 'ol days, I remember them VERY well, BCT at Sand Hill D/4/1, '67. Try not to go there in the summer months...humidity is suffocating. Believe me I should know...middle of May to middle of July.

Sand Hill is definately also for BCT. I just did BCT there (A Co 3/47 (the one across the street from 2/47 Smile)

And yes, the summer months @ Ft Benning are ****TY, they had us wake up and go to Heat Cat V because it was so hot..

Oh, and Heat Cat V does NOTHING for your temperature...lol.
