Until your within the proper physical standards (height/weight, etc), I wouldn't even bother talking to the recruiter. They would prefer their potential recruits be within the height/weight standards before even dealing with them. And you should be in the best of shape prior to getting to basic training/bootcamp.
If you don't meet the height/weight/bodyfat at MEPS, you can't enlist, which means your recruiter isn't going to send you to MEPS (and you don't want to go) until he thinks you can pass it.
There are varying thoughts on this. It would be good to go, talk to a recruiter and let them take your measurements and weight. At least you have a starting point. Don't nag them but keep in touch...
It's a good starting point if you're of serious mind in joining. If not, then, of course don't waste their time.
