Okay, extremely random question I doubt has been put up before, but here it is. I tend to scream in my sleep and yelling and cursing people I know. By screaming, I mean actual bloody-murder screaming. Will that pose a threat in BCT and get my platoon smoked or what? Enjoy mocking this, it cracks me up too, but I just thought I'd ask.

The grass looks greener but it's just Astroturf.

Don't know if the Army is the same but a friend of mine got sent home from Navy boot camp for "yelling" in her sleep.

I don't think your condition is going to bode well for you, if it doesn't disqualify you.

At BCT, sleep is the most valuable commodity. Disturbing or taking away someone's sleep time is probably the most serious thing anyone can do. That's why Drill Sergeants often threaten recruits with Fireguard or CQ during the night-- it gets your attention! If you get 6 hours sleep each night, you're very very lucky!

Therefore, if you disturb the rest of your platoon-mates' sleep each night, the Drill Sergeants are going to be the least of your worries! You'll quickly find yourself not only an outcast, but openly hated.

If this condition can be treated, I would suggest you do so before you enter service (if you can). No one wants to be woken up by some guy screaming in his sleep.

You won't get past MEPS, let alone get to Basic

You need to seek professional help to find the root cause, this could take time depending

Matt is right. During BCT we had a guy who would go around screaming while he was sleep walking. he lasted about 2 weeks and was discharged. Sleep was very very important we would get an average of maybe 6 hours a night. You need to get help before you join if you pass MEPS and let them know of your problem right away, dont just keep your mouth shut. This is a serious problem and if your out in the field during combat and start the yelling you have put yourself and the rest of your fellow soldiers in danger. I suggest if you dont say anything, then please for the safety of others dont join.

I'm not in the Army yet, but even a lay-person would imagine screaming while on a mission, somewhere in the mountains of Afghanistan would cause alot of problems, and the Taliban would thank you.

I did laugh when I read about it though... omg.. could you imagine??? Getting yelled at all day by the DS, then a recruit does it while you're sleeping. I think that calls for an all out soap party. LOL

It also reminded me of my occasional giggles while I sleep. I don't do it loud, but my whole life since kindergarten... I let out a two second giggle here and there. My husband teases me about it. LOL.
