My report date for ait is the same as my basic graduation date (a friday)...according to the atrrs website. But the dates on my training slot reservation paperwork says ait starts three days later(a monday).I assume the report day is before the start date..soooo my only real question is, does this mean I wont be able to spend anytime with my husband and children ?

You will. Don't worry. Depends on your MOS exactly how it works, but the most likely scenario is you'll have a family day to spend all day with your family, graduate BCT the next day and ship to AIT, whether it be a tthe same post or a different one. You'll inprocess AIT for an hour, two hours, three hours, whatever and then get released for the weekend and return Sunday night. That's the most common scenario.
ok...gotcha...was hoping for a cpl of days with the family. But since I'm going from Jackson to Ft Sam I guess not...woulda been nice to play with the baby for a few days, relax with the man but I'll live and so will they. thanks for the info though
Don't take my word for being etched in stone. I went to basic and AIT at FOrt Jackson, so I got most of the weekend with my family. I heard that other guys/gals rode busses to other posts and then were released Saturday morning to go with their families. I have no idea how it works for Fort Sam. Judging on how soft today's Army is, I would bet they give you some kind of free time with your family. Someone should eventually post here that knows more about it than me.
did basic at ft sill and ait at leonardwood had fam day on thursday graduated and after that everybody had the rest of day to spend with family and anyone going to ft sam or leonardwood got to us pov to get to next station by report time which for me was monday at midnight
