As a parent, I'd highly recommend your parents go to MEPS for your swearing-in. Take a camera, too! We were told by a friend to go, and we're darn glad we did.
After the official swearing-in, which is a whole group, of all branches, I asked the Army officer if he would be kind enough to let me take a picture of him with my son. (Being prior service, I wanted to document as much of this as possible.)
The officer set up the Marine flag and U.S. flag in the background, had my son face him, raised their right hands, and held the pose while a snapped a quick pic.
Priceless. Can't say that will happen to you, but it is worth a try.
