Basic Training |
I just have a few questions about AIT.
1. Are you allowed personal items, computer...etc 2. Do you have weekends where you can do stuff on base? I was in the USAF, and in basic there. I know the Air force has like a transition system. Where for example week 1 was a lot like basic, week 2 a lil more freedom etc.... |

"Never Quit!" |
Every post (and training company) where AIT is given will differ in their policies regarding the following subjects, so each person's experience will be different. I went to AIT at Ft. Eustis, Delta Company, 222nd Aviation Regiment. Right after I graduated, 15Us went to Foxtrot Company, so even this information may be different from how Fox Co. does things. With that said... 1.) Electronics: We were allowed cellphones, PSPs, MP3 players (with headphones), and DVD players (max screen size of 7"). NO computers. Electronics use was restricted to personal time (after duty hours) until lights out. 2.) Weekends: AIT has phases just like BCT. The first 4 weeks is called "Red Stat" where one is restricted to the company area, no civilian clothes, and are allowed to go to the PX and/or MWR with permission of the duty Drill Sergeant. After those first 4 weeks, soldiers can earn increased "freedom" with good school grades, PT Test scores, and good behavior (soldierization). Once you achieve "Green Stat" you are allowed more privileges like wearing civilian clothes, and leaving post on the weekends, but you have to return to the barracks each night for accountability, and are released the next morning. "Gold Stat" means you can leave post on the weekends and not have to return on Friday or Saturday nights. Failure to maintain any of the pass status criteria will result in your status being revoked/reduced to a lower level. Hope that helped. Matt SPC, US Army 15U |
