Can you bring them with you or at least buy them when at boot camp and ocs boot camp? I am seriously considering going the ocs route in fort benning, I am 31 and compete in bodybuilding and study martial arts. My concern is the all that activity in boot camp will cause you lose tons of muscle and strength. Then go to OCS and shrink even more.

no. you have to deal with the fact you are going to lose a lot of muscle mass in basic.

the skinny guys gained muscle. the fat guys lost fat. and the buff guys lost muscle.

All OTC medication is contraband, and the only thing you will be allowed to have is military pharmacy-issued prescriptions, which the Drill Sergeants will keep in their office, and dispense at the prescribed times.

Sounds to me your priorities aren't in order.

Your more worried about maintaing muscle for (x amount of weeks) then the general idea of Boot Camp which is to make you a soldier, sailor, etc.

It's not going to a drastic loss anyway, and whatever small amount you lose in strength and muscle you will gain back. There's no need to panic. Muscle memory is a great thing anyway.

I too am a very vivid weight lifter/powerlifter, but am not worried about what I will lose in boot camp. My only plan to maintain is since I'm a fast eater pile down as much food as I possibly can whether I like it or not to maintain as much as I can.

My experience with supplements -

During BCT/bootcamp they weren't allowed period.

AIT - Depending on the company, we were only allowed multi-vitamins towards the end of our cycle because soldiers were not properly hydrating themselves and were becoming heat casualties. We had a health and welfare several times during the course of my AIT and both times, they took away all of my supplements Frown

Supplements are an iffy issue. Even here at my brigade, some battalion commanders put out memo's stating you're not allowed to have this and that supplement etc etc. They're only doing this for the soldier's safety so I guess it is a good thing.

Now with OCS, I don't know if they will let you, but I don't see why not. Just don't be dissapointed in losing your hundred's of dollars worth of supplements if they confiscate all your goodies. I know I was bummed, but hey they are only looking out for me Smile

I hope this helps
