Are we allowed to bring Bengay or other products that can help heal muscle soreness during BMT. I'm the type of person that is very prone to muscle aches and soreness.

thanks

I wouldn't bring it. It sounds like each facility is different and a lot has to do with your Drill Instructor, so you may be able to buy some at the PX. I am hoping to be able to continue taking multi-vitamins, but I ain't gonna bring any. Bring only what is on the list.

Drink some Milk and Orange Juice at morning chow. This will help the soreness from Lactic Acid build up. Also stretch at night before you sleep and eat healthy while there. Look at it this way, you put in junk gas in a race engine, it runs like ****, you put in junk food and you get junk results.

yes you will be sore after the first week. But follow the advice given here, and you should be fine. I got in shape before I left and that things easier while in basic. In AIT we would run 3.5 miles every morning to school. Then we would run 1 mile every night. When I left I was in the best shape of my life. Also if your in shape when you get there, you will have an easier time then others and the DI's will notice this.

atmospherecf1, just google the base you are going to and go on their website to find the list of items they want you to bring. They also have a list of items NOT to bring.

When you ship. Bring what their website tells you. DO NOT bring a bunch of clothes that are all heavy and crap. Also, dont buy brand new shoes before you go thinking they will let you wear them. Because they force you to buy their crap shoes when you get there.

I hope that the "crap" shoes are at least somewhat decent in nature as far as support goes. I also take multi-vitamins on a daily basis and my trainer made me cease taking them and start drinking orange juice and milk every morning instead. She's having me do this so that my body will be used to it by the time I get to BCT.

Yes, the running shoes you are forced to buy at the PX are all name-brand. Your feet will be evaluated for arch size, and you will buy running shoes based on arch support.

As for the multivitamins, good idea. I took Centrum and Calcium +Vit D before BCT. You are NOT allowed any vitamins during BCT. Yes, milk and juice are good ideas. At Ft. Benning, we were forced to drink 1 glass of water and 1 glass of Power-Ade at each meal. Once you drank your required liquids, you could get juice and milk (reg or chocolate).

At AIT you *MIGHT* be allowed to take multi-vitamins. It depends on your post, company, and DS'. I restarted taking my Centrum and Calcium during the later stages of AIT. I definitely think it helped.

Good Luck!

if you have time to stretch, you could do that, it won't completely get rid of the soreness, but it will help alleviate the ache.

If your coming to Ft Jackson, you are not required to buy shoes from the px. If you bring your own and they are in good shape you can keep them.

I was a combat engineer as well, but we were allowed to have Poweraide. What company did you go through? I was in D-35, Summer 2001.

I brought shoes from home, and had to buy new shoes at reception. I was allowed to keep both during basic, so I could alternate them each day. Helps keep one pair of shoes from wearing down too fast.

Back to the topic. We WERE allowed to have Icyhot at BCT as long as it was purchased at the PX. We went through a ton of it.

Well... Beer will be replaced by water and PowerAde, and pu55y will be replaced by you trying to find some privacy in order to get real friendly with your hand.
