Well, tomorrow will make it 3 weeks from my surgery. All seems to be going very well... I went back to work yesterday... no problems.. My right leg is kind of weak, but other than that no problems... My doctor told me to do lots of walking to get it stronger....

Last Friday I went back to Gainesville to have my staples taken out.. The doctor that did my surgery is the one I saw for my follow up appointment. He also took out my staples.. He said everything looked fine... and to come back and see him in 6 weeks...

Guess this is the end of my test... I am very happy with all services provided to me.. As I said before, when I go to Gainesville, which is about 100 miles away from me, I get travel pay... ($38.04) My total cost for this entire operation, and 3 nights in a motel was about $60 ( I only had to pay for one night ... the VA paid for the other 2)

I hope everyone gets treated as well as I did.. John, I know you are not pleased with the VA in your area.. I wish there was something I could do about it, but there isn't... Sorry.... I wish you well.

Can one just go into a VA hospital emergency room if qualified? New Haven has a huge VA hospital which is about an hour from me.

An hour away? If I need to go to an "Emergency Room" I want the one that is 5 minutes away....

Have you registered with the VA? I don't know the answer to your question, but if you really want to know you should go there and ask....

This is the reason I keep TRICARE PRIME in case of emergency room needs. VA will not cover costs for ER, and there is not a VA hospital in close proximity. One ride in an ambulance and your broke!

Chris,
I too have TRICARE PRIME... you can not beat it for the price... and I have a family of 5. Another big money saver is the Express Scripts for prescriptions.. glad I got on that bandwagon.... for my wife, in particular.... of course all my pills are free from the VA.
