As I can see, I'm not the only one who is completely confused about VA benefits; Here's my situation, I'm on active duty and was injured in 2007. I requesteed Medical Attention and was denied a referral. A few weeks later, my condition worsened and I woke w/ my head stuck to the side. After seeing a nuero-sugeon i had surgery to replace two discs in my neck and I hade two vertabrea fused together. I was out for two months and when I returned the medical office considered me fit for full-duty. I was never given a medical board, and to be honest although I can do whatever is asked of me, I am definitely not the same as I was before and I have ahuge scare in the front of my neck and 4 screws in it. It seems to be like my branch is just brushing it under the rug. Am i entitled to some benfit for this or can I request a medical board? Any help would be appreciated

I'm not sure what you are hoping to accomplish with the med. board. Getting VA compensation won't begin until after you leave AD and file a claim with the VA. Best advice is go see someone at DAV or another service officer (VSO) to assist you with the claim. For the claim you will want to be sure you have a complete copy of all of your medical records prior to leaving (if you are in an area that does VA/CG pre-discharge physicals take advantage of it). The VA will award compensation based on residual effects, loss of use, etc.
